Danae Varveri is a graduate of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport specializing in Water Sports and Lifeguard.  Holds a MSc of the University of the Aegean, Department of Marine Sciences and is a PhD candidate at the University of Thessaly. Member of CE.RE.TE.TH (Centre for Research and Technology, Thessaly), and participates in research on aquaticity of human species, i.e. the adjustments of the human body in the water: http://www.livelab.eu/index.php/en/aquaticity-project
From an early age was engaged in water sports such as swimming, water polo, triathlon and windsurfing. In 1999 being a student in Thessaloniki started scuba diving and free diving. Received her diploma as Padi Open Water Instructor in scuba diving, as well as engaged in free diving on professional level.

In 1999 Danae went to -35m on an unassisted dive without equipment for ecological purposes, at an event of ecological organization LIFE. She has participated in two diving festivals, of the Municipalities of Kalymnos and Paliouri. In 2011 took part in AIDA World Depth Championship and in 2013 took 5th place in CNF. Today is the National record holder in all three free diving depth categories (CWT -54m, FIM -49m, CNF -40m).
