SPEARFISHING EDUCATION
INSTRUCTOR*
PSA Instructor Level 1, is the Underwater Spearfishing Hunter who is certified by PSA Education System, which is in valid.
Skills: The PSA Instructor* has the ability to Organize & Certify successfully Spearfishing
Schools PSA Level 1,2 and 3 which consists twelve (12) students in theory lessons &
four (4) students in practical session and has the authority of conduct by PSA
Technical Commission Team.
Course: A PSA Instructors course is organized Strict & Only after the issue of license
by PSA Team:
One (1) PSA Instructor*** with four (4) candidates or
One (1) PSA Instructor*** plus one (1) PSA Instructor** with six (6) candidates or
One (1) PSA Instructor*** plus two (2) PSA Instructor** with eight (8) candidates or
Two (2) PSA Instructor*** plus one (1) PSA Instructor** with ten (10) candidates or
Two (2) PSA Instructor*** plus two (2) PSA Instructor** with twelve (12) candidates
Announce - Operation date: The announce date of a PSA Instructors course defined only by PSA Team after the interest of at least four (4) candidates, which applied the appro- priate forms at PSA desk.
Location: The location of the training is PSA s Offices or any location which declared as a PSA School Center.
Candidate’s requirement: - Be adult
- To possess a PSA 3 level spearfishing certification and
at least a valid Freediving Instructors* certification
(Cmas, Aida, Apnea Academy, FDI, SSI,AESI) or
- To possess a PSA 3 level spearfishing certification and
be an active member of the National team of his country
in spearfishing (1st, 2nd or 3rd place) & at least one (1)
participation in an International event or
- To possess a PSA 3 level spearfishing certification and
participation at Spearfishing Champions league
(1st, 2nd or 3rd place)
Forms require: - ID or Passport
- CPR Certification (in valid)
- Health certification at least six (6) months period (capable to Freedive)
- Appropriate original Certifications or Confirmations

B. Practical (open water)
Organize, set in pairs, team s brief

Skills evaluation in all spearfishing technics
Use of variable weights and other dive technic tips
Control of the teams, student s safety
Advance use of Instruments (GPS-Depthmeter)
Use of the boat, anchor, safety
Skills exams and PSA Instructor* certification:
A. Theory (class)
Five (5) Lectures in 5 different chapters of PSA 1,2,3 Theory,
Instructors evaluation.
Lectures evaluation between candidates with the guidance of the Instructors
Phorcus Spearfishing Association team Instructor ***
Paper exams in all PSA 1,2,3 Theory and Certification procedures.
Final graduation project. The subject will be given by Instructors
(the project must be delivered to PSA Technical Commission Team in ten (10)
days after the end of the training).
B. Practical (Pool - Open water)
Pool:
300m free style swimming in 4min 30sec (mask, snorkel, fins)
Dynamic apnea 70m
Dynamic apnea 30m in full exhale
4 x 50m dynamic apneas with 40sec break in between
Static apnea 3min Static apnea in full exhale 1 min 30sec
Sea:
Organize and brief of a 4 spearfishermen school, in conjunction with Instructors evaluation
Analyse, Locate & Prevent of dangers in spearfishing
Constant weight dive 30m
Variable weight dive 40m
4 dives to 18m with 15sec break in between
4 dives to 15m with 15sec, 10sec, 5sec
Demonstration & Evaluation process of Rescue from 15m depth
ending in shore.
Demonstration & Evaluation process of Rescue from 15m depth
ending in boat.
A candidate is successfully certified as a PSA Instructor*after he passes the Theoretical - Paper exams (test) and also Practical training with 80% performance. In case of his evaluation is between 70% – 79% he may review the exams the next day. In case of lower evaluation he must repeat the training from the beginning.
School duration: Theory: 25 teaching hours (class)
Practical: 15 teaching hours (3 practical sessions in pool & open water)
Paper exams: 2 teaching hours (class)
